Energy Star Certification

A free* way to identify energy savings

A building tune-up is a process by which a building’s major energy-consuming systems are evaluated to find ways to optimize energy use. The result is a comprehensive list of no-cost and low-cost improvements that can save energy and money.

*Thanks to a $0.05 per square foot incentive from Focus on Energy™, the cost of a building tune-up is often 100% reimbursable. Actual costs are fully disclosed before work commences.

Is a building tune-up right for your organization?

Participating commercial, school, and government facilities must meet the following requirements before submitting an application for the building tune-up incentives:

  • Facility must be an electric or natural gas customer of a participating Wisconsin utility.
  • Organization must be willing to commit up to $10,000 or $0.025 per square foot, whichever is greater, for identified measures with an estimated simple payback of less than 1.5 years.
  • Organization must be willing to dedicate operations and maintenance staff support to assist with the building tune-up process.
  • Facility must be free of major problems requiring costly repairs or replacements and have no major system renovations or retrofits planned.
  • The $0.05-per-square-foot incentive may not pay for the entire process; a commitment is required to allocate dollars for the remainder of the measures to be completed.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to hire the building tune-up market provider.

e-3 GROUP can provide all the services an organization requires to conduct a building tune-up and to apply for reimbursement from Focus on Energy.
